Uninsured Medical Care from North American Surgery

Uninsured? Under-insured? Self-insured?

Everyone wants high-quality health care. However, if you’re an individual or a self-insured business who needs to pay directly for surgical procedures, then price is also a major concern. The North American Surgery network of U.S. health care providers offers access to high-quality surgical procedures at prices that are often 50% below U.S. hospital averages. We offer cardiac surgery, spinal surgery, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, women’s procedures and much more. See the complete list of procedures that we offer here.

You don’t need to fly to India or Thailand!

Flying half way around the world is no longer the only way to find significant savings on surgery. Before you consider booking a flight for “offshore surgery”, ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Am I prepared to accept the significant risk of having a deadly thromboembolism? According to a report by the prestigious Mayo Clinic, it can be extremely dangerous to take long-haul flights before or after undergoing certain medical procedures.
  2. Am I comfortable with receiving blood transfusions in a foreign country, without knowing what (if any) controls there are on the source of the blood?
  3. Am I prepared to undergo surgery in a foreign country, knowing that the legal protection and legal recourses which we take for granted in the U.S. may be non-existent in that country? Filing a malpractice law suit in many foreign countries is simply not an option.
  4. Am I prepared to expose myself or a loved one to potentially fatal tropical infections in a foreign hospital? Hospitals, ironically enough are not always the safest places to be if your immune system is compromised. Hospitalization in foreign countries can expose you to a wide spectrum of viruses and bacteria – many of which are not commonly seen, and can therefore be difficult to diagnose or treat in U.S. facilities.
  5. Am I prepared to accept the risk of being targeted by political extremists? As this is being written (Nov 27/08), terrorists in Mumbai, the most Westernized city in India, are holding at least 6 Americans, British, and Canadians hostage, after killing over 120 persons yesterday. Evidently tourists were targeted at hotels and, ominously, hospitals among other sites. The U.S. State Department advises Americans traveling to, or already in India, that “Americans appear to have been among those specifically targeted. U.S. citizens should exercise caution and take prudent security measures, including maintaining a high level of vigilance, avoiding crowds and demonstrations, keeping a low profile, varying time and routes for all travel, and ensuring travel documents are current”. Meanwhile, U.S., Canadian, British, and Australian governments have warned their nationals against traveling to Thailand in view of the current political turmoil in that country.

In Early March, the Canadian government issued a travel warning for people intending to visit Mexico.

The New York Times recently published a story entitled “Hospitals Now a Theatre in Mexico’s Drug War”.

Finally, as of today, April 27th, 2009, 83 people have died from a deadly Swine Flu Virus in Mexico. Many travelers returning to the U.S. have been quarantined with flu like symptoms.

Instead of traveling off-shore, North American Surgery Inc. offers health care options that are a quick flight or drive from most of the U.S. Your surgery is then performed by American surgeons in American facilities.

How Does It Work?

North American Surgery is the sister company of Timely Medical Alternatives, a company that since 2003 has helped thousands of Canadians get timely access to health care. We act as a facilitator, bringing our clients together with U.S. based medical clinics and hospitals which can provide the needed services and/or procedures in a timely manner. Once arrangements have been made to the mutual satisfaction of our client and their physician, we have no ongoing involvement in the doctor-patient relationship.

Services

North American Surgery Inc. is able to access reasonably priced surgical procedures of all types in U.S. based facilities.  Our clients pay a small fraction of the standard prices charged by most U.S. hospitals.  Typically the prices we have negotiated are comparable to the costs associated with off-shore surgery in places such as India, Thailand or Mexico.
